.

and she's
all of that.

Hair a bright flash,
waist a willow whip
and yes, a magnet.

We drive to the mall.
I don't wear heels-
there's always so much walking.

Rifling through the froth of
rightnow rightnow
there is a moment

pressed between the strobing glare,
the clearance rack
and noise

I see her catch
a quarter-view

of the
almost-woman

caught within
the mirrored walls...

a thousand points
of possibility:

      blonde

               and blonde

                          and blonde

Haha! I hear ya, Amaryllis, and in my minds eyes I see her in all of her fourteen-year-old glory.

I am intolerant of malls and having made quite the amount of efforts to please my daughter, I SO understand this, dear Amaryllis. But teenagers are drawn to the immense choice, though they almost always know exactly what they want ... there is an air of glittering world in there and it's crowded, makes them feel "in the world" somehow.

As always your poem is of excellent quality and strong impact!

Love,
Margherita

I do believe I will send this to my eldest granddaughter...and her daughter...who is but a babe, but oh so poignant for the new mom, who will know it so well in only a blink!

Yep, what can I write to improve on those images....Nothing!
Had one of those, who's just a mere 37 years old now, and even as the male in the family I know where you're coming from.

Enjoyed very much.

Startime, thank you, and yes- I wouldn't change a hair on her precious head!

Thank you, Margherita...yes you've described it...and I want to remember to be thankful for these times when she still wants mom along..

Sunshine, thank you, I am pleased you've shared it, something all mothers of daughters can relate to at some point

Dreamgal, lol...yes, it was moi too once upon a million years ago-! Now? I'm with Margherita...can barely tolerate. But for her...I will...

John, thank you so much...I'm glad you slowed to read it a 2nd time...was trying to speak to that ephemeral 'between' time...I know how fleeting.

Thanks, Eric, yes...not only mothers, but any parent

Thanks all, for looking in...
Best,
Amaryllis
