How dark it is now,
shaded hedgerows in moonlight.
Long liquid lanes black,
slick before me.
Enveloping nigrescent trees
reaching to draw me
into the shadows, away
from silvering comfort.
In deepest recesses i am now,
feeling its cloying fingers,
fog freezing my inner love,
i search for light,please
shine a light for me....

Raw piece of work, Silver Sanctuary, and dark in its inner sanctum. I like both, raw and dark, and I like this because you gave me both in a well-written piece of poetry.

There is a niggling sense of fear in darkness that cloys the way you write here, and I wondered if the word nigrescent means that.  It's a new word for me and I'm going to look it up.  The poetry is beautifully penned and I felt a shiver in the shadows.

You drew me in ... close to the nigrescent trees, very powerful poem, dear Phil. The brightest light is that which shines inside; calling for it like you did here, makes it visible. See? Your Silver Sanctuary is that.

I really enjoyed this, my friend ... all of it, no particular line or word standing out above the rest...

Well done...

Hi Goldenrose,
I don't know why I confused your name...
I apologize. Well maybe I do... You both have
a wonderful way of expressing your thoughts in poetry, I hope that's ok to say, here on your post.
Ms. E
