where insanity meets breeding

I told you I was glad
...You'd moved on
Did you notice... the lie
Read between....the lines
If you did, you hid it well

Cause I wanted you back so bad it ached
And there was a hole in my heart
And a whole lotta tearstained pillows
And crying don't look good on me
Though it turns my eyes blue
But you wouldn't know that
You haven't seen the tears
Or how I wished you could dry them

On a re-read .... perhaps ...you misunderstood
But you won't ask ... and I won't tell
One stupid piece of punctuation
Changing a meaning
Trying to tell how I'd missed you so
Wanted you back
I was eating crow
Perhaps not enough for your appetite
And I realized
There ain't no use crying over the milk
And I ain't gonna eat the crow no more
And I don't wanna feel the pain
Slowly driving me insane

What did you say?...
    I'm glad you said something
(You're glad I said something????)
No  "baby I miss you and I feel it too"
No  "baby let's talk it through"

So I shall bid adieu and adios
To the us I wanted back
For now I can go on
Face another dawn
No tear stained pillows
It's over
and
Tonight .... for the first time in weeks
I will sleep

You can never win or lose
If you don't
Run the race

Good. You cannot dwell. You have to get on with your life. Good luck.

Deep emotion, deeper resolution.
Well done.
Enjoyed!!

Well now, that read like a song, and yes a final swan song at that!  Good to see  you posting again, even with melancholia.

It often takes many a tear-sogged pillow to get to this point... but the realization that there's nothing you can/could do becomes the solvent that releases your feet from the glue holding them in place... and allows you to go forward. You've written the painful journey beautifully!

Crow never did cook up well over high heat...
and simmering takes too much time.

Much better to change your diet.

It's amazing the quality of that first good night of sleep once one truly has "let go."  in the same regard, the sun tends to be more dazzling the next morning and we find ourselves attuned to things like the birds chirping and the fresh smell of the grass we're walking on... things that have always been there but we were to caught up in our grief to notice before.  Hope you're noticing all those little, special things now.
