a flashlight is brighter than a candle
written words are more readable than hieroglyphs
lips kissing is better than a handshake
my single letter to her
means more than twenty emails
punched out on the computer
conscious effort was made to pen (pencil) each letter
to make a word
a line and paragraph
knowing she would be the recipient
I wrote so she could see
how primitive my penmanship was
and . . .
to revel in her exquisite loveliness
and my madness

Nicely done! I agree a written letter is so much more meaningful than e-mails.

A written letter does show, to our heart's desire, how madly in love we are with them.Enjoyed, Ms. E

Ms. E, yes it does that. It is personal. Very personal in a way that picking and pecking on the keyboard of a computer can never be. Thank you.

Much caring in your letter.
Enjoyed the poetic explanation of your deep feelings.

Jerry I like this.It brings to mind a poem my grandfather once recited to me.

It was about all the letters written to  different people but the most prized letter was one that was writen to a mother from her son.I loved it all the more because he recited it. But I can not find it by an author or the words. jo

Thank you so much, jo. It is a darn shame you can't locate the poem. If you could remember some of its phrases, surely it would be online, but then again, maybe not. Again, I appreciate you kind words to this effort of mine.

thank you Jerry. As I once told you I do read most of your poems. But do not always take the time to answer.

This one I am looking for I have tried all the old poetry masters that I know of and but to no avail.I do have the copy some where as he also wrote it out for me. But a few words are not legible, and I do not know the author. When I find all the words he wrote I will try you again.

Hi Baby Girl, and thank you. Yes. No question about it, the written word is just intimate, whereas something picked and pecked out on a keyboard is just that, something picked and pecked out on the keyboard.

Thank you again for visiting "The Letter."

Emails are wonderful... but there's something special about seeing your name on an envelope, written by HIS hand... and a letter that can be treasured and kept near to read again and again... even when the computer is far away.

Enjoyed this!!

How right you are, suthern. Letter writing is a fading art, I can hardly read my own handwriting. Thanks for the nice comments.
