Thread of Life

In cool breeze silk curtains blowing
The sultry heat of night
Entwined our bodies knowing
Our love for each so right

As my fingers touch you softly
So safe within my care
Then kiss your lips so gently
The pillow frames your hair

The second hand keeps on turning
Rushing to meet the dawn
At sunrise you are leaving
A fragile heart now torn

Suddenly awake from dreaming
Those days no longer here
An empty space revealing
To crystallise my fear

But the clock will keep on ticking
It ticks so slow for one
Strawberries we went picking
The fruit has now all gone

You need warp and weft for weaving
Or fabric falls apart
This thread of life no healing
Time spins my lonely heart

What a great piece of writing, Michael. Love waning to be no more. Heart breakingly lovely.
