Comes now the dark's enshroud of light of day,
As I beside a gently flowing stream
In silence solemn gaze on night's display,
Enraptured in her starlit pulsing dream.
Then from afar, I hear yon whippoorwill,
Sounds forth the distant hymn of once was day,
A sadness in her song, hear if you will,
Day's secrets by the dark now hushed away.
Glow soft the sapphire's of the Milky Way,
With welkin's mysteries by all espied,
No more the memories of fallen day,
As from the light to dark, the world doth glide.
Resigns the day to rise of heaven's might,
With day's defeat, now reigns supreme the night.

Wonderful piece of work here, Tim.  And a topic right up my alley.  I really enjoyed this one.  You make sonnets look easy.

Big smiles here - I LOVE Mike's comment.  Making it "seem" easy is the best marker of a successful sonnet.  Well done, Tim..

What a beauty this is, Tim!  I literally felt my shoulders relax, as I folded the glorious peace of the night you washed across the sky, around me.  I needed this, right now.  Thank you.
