Jesus visited me today
saying He wanted to break bread with me
I'm glad I had wine to go with it
He asked if we could watch a football game
He grimaced and grunted
with each linebackers' illegal hit
He rooted with whoever had the ball
wouldn't drink my wine
I had a twelve-pack in the fridge
He sucked it down and belched
didn't surprise me
I always figured Him for being just one of the guys

Well now, dear Jerry, what a privilege to have Jesus visiting you ... Jesus indeed shared our life with all the consequences involved.

If He came it means you called for Him. He knows you and loves you. He nurtured you with food that can't be kept in the fridge!

It was fun to watch the two of you ...

Ah, what a nice thing you said about the visit, Margherita, but then you are a nice person and nice things just come naturally to you. Thank you.

I love this piece. For myself it portrays Jesus in a way that feels to me to be closer to the nature of the man in His own time than how we tend to characterize Him today.
Good write

Thanks, Lori, you grasped what I wanted to portray Him as, I appreciate that.

Show him where your 'watering tree' is and I guarantee he'll be back.  Cute, my friend.

I remember an author, who had an idea of Jesus as a common boy in his childhood.
Jesus playing games with other children, loving his mum and having a childish curiosity about the world around him.
Although the Holy Writ says he was more serious )

Thank you, Gale, I believe that the child called Jesus probably had a typical childhood. When, and if, he was informed that he was someone very special I don't know. All I know is I like to think of him as a beer-drinking, football loving, down to earth kinda guy. I appreciate you stopping by. I see that you new here, welcome to the blue room.
