its a cloudy day but the sun is in your heart has been since you left to drive the hundreds of miles to get to her you imagine her lustrous brown hair being wind-swept as she stands beside the road waiting for you there are no doubts inside you come, she said, simply you're breaking every speed limit in every state you come to until you can finally put your hands on the woman you love it's been a long time coming not without people being hurt matters not anymore it's all about you and your woman over twenty hours after you started late afternoon you know the way, she gave you directions you feel like a fugitive but there she is standing where she said she would be you stop the car get out and simply stare at her she wears a tentative smile you stand still, your arms slack down at your side she takes the first step you start toward her even as your heart blossoms near the rupturing stage she's in your arms salty tears streaming down her face onto your neck blending with your own tears neither of you capable of speech you just hug standing beside the road oblivious to everything except two wildly beating hearts ©February 21, 2012 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (02-22-2012 06:31 AM).] |
