     Love has Taken Wing

On this night of streaming
clouds and whispered omens,
ancient spirits shadow-dance
to a sharp, cold twilight wind
singing  dark, melancholy
melodies of saddest refrain
with a frigid-moonbeam
bare tree chorus of lament
on late Autumn passing
to a Winter of discontent
and parted lovers' vigils
across the many miles
between our hearts from
past to future misty shores
through Life’s lonely labyrinth;
but lo, my love has taken wing
like a Phoenix rising from the
ashes of fate and memory to
fly to you forever in all your
finest hopes and dreams.
