there is a place I can go
when things begin to pile up
it's a place I've been before
a place I'd rather not revisit
still . . .
it seems to serve the purpose
when life is kicking you in the butt
when things seem to conspire against you
things like that
and you need some respite
that dark corner of your mind
is the place you can go

I pile cushions and blankets in mine... might as well be as comfortable as possible during those visits.

Thank you, suthern. I don't have room for those cushions and blankets, my dark crowds out everything.

I have similiar places in my mind I go to.  I think all humans need such places... places of peace, comfort, and in general, places where they are untouchable.  Nice reflection, JP.

If you're going to go there take your pen and paper, write about it.And don't stay there all day.

Never mind, Ms E, I shan't (love that word) stay long and yes, I always carry a pen and paper, if no paper I have been known to write on my arm.

Thank you for gracing my poem with your presence.

Instead of taking a flashlight as Lori suggested, wear a headlamp - that frees your hands up for the paper and pencil that Ms. E said for you to take.  Oh and slip a chocolate in your pocket - that always sotthes me a bit.

Hooray for the thought behind the chocolate, Alison. Appreciate also the headlamp suggestion. Thank you for being here.

You can't take the hatchet.  I buried it.

I like buried hatchets, especially when the burial is for the good of all concerned. Thanks.

It's all good until I need to split wood.  Oh well. Have a good day. I am off to watch Secondhand Lions - one of my favorite rainy day/quiet day movies.

Have fun with your Usedloins. I'm listening to the album, "The Land of Song," by Christine Tsen, cello player, and fellow poet.
