it is better to lie
sometimes
than to tell the truth
for truth-telling can cause
much discontent
poetry is known for truth
still . . .
scrape the dismal underbelly
where sexual delusions are kept
dreams we daren't share
but our hearts are corrupt and we lie
secretly stealing back to that underbelly
of unimaginable acts
we slobber within our dreams
and if we are found out
our hearts wither and perish
and will we be confined within ourselves
for our diabolical lies
we are shamed
as our veil of secrecy has been exposed
revealing truth in the light of day
your truth an open book
poetry ferrets out truth
a poem can drag truth, kicking and screaming
from a hostile, darkened alley
and wear it proudly
as it was meant to be worn
love . . .
the ultimate truth
we never lose love if it is true
even though societal scheming
are abandoned willy-nilly
I reach out to you
'neath a cloudless blue sky
not caring the consequences
love, true love is the extreme truth

Yes, no reason to lie in poems, words of truth as you said...enjoyed Jerry...I love poems of love and romance and nature. I watched the Swamp show last night and it was coming from your little town, so I mainly just saw the swamps and cypress trees. I didnt see you as I don't think you hunt alligators. ha.

Ah . . . Thibodaux was featured, eh? Cool. And no, I don't hunt alligators, but I cook 'em when I get a chance.

Thank you for checking me out today, seems it is just us two in the Blue room lately.

Loved the escalation in this "research" and the results find me smiling and content.

Poetry is above all emotion and it is difficult to dissimulate them, I guess, lies have short lives ...

Great work.

Ah, Margherita, that is my kind of "research," very satisfying. I thank you very much for stopping by and giving your thoughts on my poem.

I have no doubt that poetry reveals the truth as felt and known at the time of writing and when I read my old ones - well, I know I haven't changed when perhaps I should have.  Too hard I guess to change from who we really are in spite of all the trials of life that should cause that to be.

I guess it is in our DNA, Helen, but I agree life's trials and errors should cause a c change in us, and it does to a point, but not enough to really count I think. Thank you for stopping by.
