ALMOST
9 October 2012

Out of the mists
of memories
he came,
slowly,
with head held high,
like a prince
in a fairytale,
and put out his hand
to her, wordlessly
asking for a dance.
She advanced,
barefoot,
in her long, long dress
falling in soft folds,
the changing colours
of the mist,
a wood-nymph
in the arms of a prince.
For hours
they swirled
and twirled
to the music
of their hearts
in the forest glade
surrounded
by woodland creatures
and when dawn melted
the sorrowing mists,
they both faded softly
into their moonlit memories
and fragile dreams
and the woodland creatures
bowed their trembling heads
and hearts
heavy
in silent mourning.

Diana, i hope you dont mind me posting my scribble that your lovely poem inspired me to scratch out:

A reminisce of weather
from high and from low
met in the middle
as arms overflow

The fabrics of element
dressed for the fall
prance in the forest
sway in the squall

Their audience peering
from bush and from limb
the tempest revival
beginning to shim

The zephyr now over
the leaves are all gone
the critters bed down
as the year, starts to yawn
another wonderful piece from you

From the mediocrity of reality, you drew me into a magical world... and I understand and share the ending lines of grief at the fading. Beautiful work!

Thank you, Karilea for your comforting words.  I am still in tears and scrunched up and reeling after reading your Blackie and Tippy poem.

Happy Christmas to you too and hugs to you and Poe and Twain.
