Across The Span Of Time (Part-II)

Copyright 2012 by:Mark V Sheldon

I’m lost within your sweet perfume
And float upon your voice
Though not one to ever assume,
I leave you with no choice

I clutch your hand in ginger grip
And lead you to the dance
Whispers heard as glances slip
Our faces in a trance

Your laughter joins the harpsichord
We waltz past royalty
You are not new to being adored
But now, you are with me

A duke attempts to come between
And win your favor when
Your turning smile starts a scene
We disappear and then

We laugh out loud as we explore
Your warm hand still in mine
The endless halls and corridors
Not knowing what we’ll find

I ask if you are here for long
Forever, you reply
Your teasing tone is like a song
I want to sing tonight

You comment on a tapestry
Which drapes the wall of stone
Your vibrant hair is all I see
And that we are alone…

You turn to me with sudden pause
Your eyes betray intent
I gently lift your chin because
I can’t resist your scent

You close your eyes as I approach
Suspended within time
I taste your lips without reproach
Remembering you’re mine…

A near riot with the Duke. Wandering the castle hand-in-hand. Time honored ritual as you touch lips to lips. Nice writing.

This is a real beauty, I felt butterflies when reading your words.
Such a special kind of love you write of.

Gorgeous poem, MVS~

JerryPat2:  Yes, indeed.  Thank you for your read and thoughts, my friend.

BluesSerenade:  I am very pleased you enjoyed.  Thank you so much for the very kind compliments.  If you haven't already, check out Part-I to this evolving story (you'll have to scroll down a ways since these pages move by rather quickly...), and this Part-II will make even more sense in that context...

Romantic poetry always feeds the soul it seems.  A pleasure to read both parts and to walk back in time.  Great meter and flow!

*sigh*...magical and my heart softens even more as The Span of Time captures me...a story worth reading over and over with visions of him guiding her while she leads him...love it...*BIG HUGS*...I have been starving for such a long time...

*may our dreams ever be magical*

Hi Connie:  a big to you, for you, and because of you...

miscellanea:  thank you for the compliments.  The soul has an appetite equal to or greater than the rest of us, and it's dinner time!

Hi Lori:  oh yes -- Part-III due out shortly...

Startime1955:  I sense you have felt the magic...  (just wait until Part-III...)
