This Dream Life

Whose words are these I thought I knew,
That touched my soul deep, through and through?
She will not find me listening here,
To whispers on a wind untrue...

Far off the storms of yesteryear
Like some grand, gaudy souvenir;
That tempts the hear with garish thought;
And lexicon so insincere.

No, I will linger on, distraught,
In lieu of all cherished and sought...
The tribute, mineto undertake
Upon this path Destiny's wrought.

The world is twisted, darkand fake
But I have promises to break,
Eons to go before I wake,

Eons to go before I wake.

Michael Anderson

I strike! It quivers in that heart
Which drives me to this end;
I draw and kiss the bloody dart,
My last-my only friend!

~Abraham Lincoln

A beautiful take on his "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and tribute to Robert Frost.  I, too, am a fan of his.  Hoping you will wake to a beautiful new world for you.

Very nice, Michael..
You are honoring one of the greats by doing this..

I am sure that Frost is flattered,
And in his grave he might have thought he heard, the bells of his little horse.
ringing, as it gave them another little shake..

But it is your poem that caused him to stir, and then fall back to sleep...a big smile on his face.

Ah . . . Excellent and quite Frosty to be sure, Michael.

Uniquely written.  A true deep thinker,
and poet, and philosopher.
Enjoyed the thoughts you provoked.

Owl,  well, I was kinda trying to portray the surreal, almost dreamlike feel this *life has held for me... like nothing is real, even down to emotion, and the only waking from such a dream being death.  I will join you in hoping for an earlier awakening though   and thank you for always pointing up.

Ice, I hope you are correct.  Frost was a great poet and I questioned myself for actually posting this... for its darker tint, and  not sure if I was actually doing him justice. It was definately meant as a tribute though, to just how "Stoppin by Woods on a Snowy Evening"  has always made me feel. Thank you for the very complimentary reply.

JP... Frosty indeed.

Ruth, thank you so much...but like I've always said,  I won't be considered *great as long as I'm living.     you all can blow the whistles for me once I'm gone.  :P

JL, sadly, I tend to be an overthinker most of the time... Lol  Glad you enjoyed.

Okay, I had to laugh.  After reading your response to Ruth I was thinking, "I am going to blow your whistle now."  Ummm, didn't quite mean it the way it sounded, but I had to share.  That's why I am known as a goof.  Seriously, this is beautiful - I am not always the best to comment because I just feel and feelings are hard to express without sounding trite.  So, rather tritely, let me simply say that I do love your poetry and I think you are great.  And I alwaysthink I am right.  Nothing you can do about that.
