the older I get
the fewer truths I know
one truth I know well, however
is the face of fear
sometimes we come across people
with a face that has understood fear
eyes hooded with all the dread in the world
his words singing a song of incredulity
his spirit sagging
beneath the burden of deepest despair
I have seen that face
staring back through a mirror at me

people . . .
when we meet those
who have climbed the mountain of fear
sometime we just have to do things
for them
even if we're not sure
it's the right thing to do
but we do it
for the sake of humanity
we must reach out a helping hand
or an ear to listen
sometimes we must step
into the darkness
the step may lead nowhere
but there are times when
we must, absolutely must, take it

WOW!!!I know that there is that face inside of me and slowly I am facing the fear but now I know that I must look in the mirror...Thank you so much...this poem has helped me in a way I cannot explain...I am greatful for your years of wisdom...*BIG HUGS*

Yes, Karen, in my case it took looking into the mirror to find the person I had really become to begin making him go away. Thank you for your observation.

Fear is not a pleasant thing to have to live with, besides being something that can harm you mentally, it can outright cause death, Ms. E. Thank you for your comments.

Yes, it's true taking the step might be hard because of the fear of taking the step but it must be done.
