With my deepest apologies to Robert Frost . . .

These woods have made myself be lost,
And all around me there is frost.
I stop and listen but do not hear,
I believe I have disappeared.

I was just out for a quick stroll,
Although the weather is quite cold.
Oh, between the woods and my house,
I fear I am lost as a mouse.

Though lost, the woods they speak to me,
And they have told me I am free.
There is a sigh through oak and pine,
Says I don't have to toe the line.

These woods are mine to keep and hold,
And if I may Sir, be so bold,
I'll go on my way, lightly trod,
Though lost I smile, you find that odd.

The snow has started falling now,
Up to my knees, ahead I plough.
My step is straight, no longer lost,
I have good cheer I shall defrost.

I think Robert Frost would be proud of your work!
I wish I had written it!

I don't know if he would or not, rabittlover, but it was just something I had to do. I've been reading that poem for so many years that I had to pay my respects to it, and I hope you are right and he would have liked it.

Well, I can't speak for Frost but I can say it is my opinion there is nothing to apologize for here.

I believe I have disappeared

This was a great read, and another I can relate well too.

Appreciate the nice comments, Michael. I almost decided to not post it, thinking where do I get off even comparing myself to the great one, which is what you do if you rewrite great poems. Anyway, I did post it and I'm glad I did, it wouldn't have surprised me if everyone had boycotted it. Haha And for a while I thought that was what was happening. Thanks again . . .

Haven't read any other comments.
Never been there have you? But you're such a good writer you can make the images come to be real.
I'm just guessing old friend, but I have to tell ya, I really do like your creative talents.
You know, in music it's the same thing, these guys collaborate and feed off each other's talents which I believe is a marvelous thing.
Always appreciate your progressing perceptions it's good for the creative juices to flow.
I think you'll always be alright Jerry because you love what you do so very much.

I'm confused, Eric. Never been where? The woods? If that is what you are asking then no, I have never been there.

Thank you for your nice words. Sure, everyone feeds off each other to an extent. You are right about one thing too, I do love what I do. My poems and my novels, they are me.

I think Robert would give you a big smile and yes, woods is what I meant.
How apporpriate is his name when it comes to many of his works?

Take Care

What a complete delight your poem is! I loved every line. The verse above gave me an extra smile with memories of a time when several cousins got "lost" in our grandmother's woods - we finally figured it out and trudged home to find our parents laughing. They said they might have answered our cries for HELP if we'd just shut up long enough to hear a response. LOL

I think you did Frost proud.

Oh, thank you so much, suthern. I think many children, especially those who live nearby woods have been lost in them. I know I have. Agin, thank you for your nice comments.
