Spirit Island

Fluffy clouds fill the azure skies
it’s always summer in this world
where she comes to reflect on life

Ancient mountains stand as sentries
keeping out hurtful memories
which can consume the heart and soul

Jagged peaks waiting to be climbed
have shadows cast by passing clouds
silently waiting her signal

The wind speaks to her through the trees
whispering thoughts that bring her peace
while cooling her brow with caress

Water ripples in crystal lake
soothing the soul from deep within
and bringing clarity of thought

Surrounding trees form protection
sheltering walls of evergreen
sharing their strength through ancient roots

Circled by earth, water and sky
she can examine in safety
the past, on this Spirit Island

Ah, beautifully done, Karen, especially the idea that the past can be visited without trouble or strife. A nice thing. Trying to reach out the past deeds or perhaps misdeeds. Beautiful.
