Bones is way obtuse.

He’s a simple child
that hasn’t spent much time
out of the hood.

He has no idea
about what kindness exists
in the world.

He never claimed to be
very smart,
and to tell the honest truth,
he’s not.

He thinks everyone
lives
just like he does.

It’s good that
Bones is obtuse.

If he wasn’t,
then the realization
that his life
is so very different
from most kids
would destroy him.

Bobby

Thanks Bruce,

Of course kindness exists in the world.  You sometimes have to let it find you.

Now THAT is one profound statement. It also has a flip side in that it keeps kids in the hood, thinking that's the way all life is.

This is one of Bone's most hard-hitting snippets.

Thanks Balladeer,

For your insightful comment.

Yes, that's true.  We live rather sheltered lives here in the hood.  We wouldn't know how to act outside of the hood.

I think that might be the case everywhere.

I've tried the burbs and the country, but didn't like it there at all.

My life was far different from Bones'... but I remember thinking that. *S* This is great, Bobby... one of your best!

Thanks dear Suthern,

I think a lot of children think that way.  After all, it's the only life they really know.

I'm happy this one worked for you.

Love Bobby

Perhaps ignorance is bliss.  At least for Bones that is!

To not know that kindness exists in the world -- that's scary, but that is one of the hard realities that we learn when we look at the life of Bones. He is the epitome of the paradox  -- tragedy and triumph.

Thanks Earl,

Ignorance protected Bones when he was very young, until he could handle the truth.

Thanks Art,

It did take a long time for Bones to discover the existence of kindness.  He found it to be a pleasant surprise.
