A valentines gift
so simple yet cherished
was given to me
and even now

he still can not see

the smile that it brought,
or the joy that it gave
he doesn’t understand
how much he has saved me
from my own thoughts

of negativity;

by his unselfish actions
he’s allowed me
to be me.

His sincere words
spoke so considerately
of a friendship shared
in quiet understanding

of total acceptance
and never demanding
a single thing more
than what it is

but yet he
can never comprehend
that his gift of words
so genuine and kind
blessed me with joyous
state of mind.

An act of kindness
that touched my heart
for what greater gift
could one ever impart
than bestowing upon a poet
a few words spoken
in appreciation,
an earnest token
that I’m still not certain
of how to repay?

The only way that
I know how
to reciprocate
is for me to also say,
the gifted words
I reflect in kind
for I too also find
that the words given

I need return with truth,

I’m a much better person
for knowing you,
too.

Well, Gentle One, I do demand a great big hug.
I am very, very demanding ...
Is it okay to demand a hug? ...
Because I also yearn and long to recprocate.

So beautiful and gentle, dear Donna. The blessings have travelled in both directions, no doubt.

You have been missed!
