I hope you get well soon
knowing that if the night sky was arranged in such a way
to match the freckles on the bridge of your nose

Every man would be a stargazer,
and I would own an expensive telescope
only to make you appear closer to me
than you will ever stand.

Get well soon,
knowing that your voice is kind
and your laugh is water
upon which most of us
wish we could float forever.

Get well soon,

-Paul

at first glance I thought this said Dear Whiskey

see what I have on my mind

Don't put people on pedestals. Everyone grows old sooner or later.

Passing shadows, a spot of beam does the body good, now and again.

Probably not, but it's well worth it.

That's what pedestals are for, putting things on. Just because folks grow old doesn't mean you have to take them down.

InkedGoddess, thank you mademoiselle. I'm glad you enjoyed.

Chalmette, my man, thanks so very much. From a writer such as yourself, that's quite a compliment.

Since the death of Daisy, my beloved 14½ year old doggy on 18 December 2009, I am very disengaged.  I can do the big-smile thing and the “normal” plastic talk thing to people in shops and offices, but here in Pip, where I am allowed to be me, I don’t seem to be able to engage any more.  I read excellent poems of favourite poets and friends and get half way – or even all the way - through and have no words to reply.

However, your poem trapped me with its excellence, its beauty and its humanity and that I can say.

Owl, I'm touched. I don't know what to say, other than "Thank you."

So, dear Owl, thank you.

Excellent writing, Paul!

The comparison of night sky constellations and freckles is extremely well done.

The thought of having to worship or love from afar and  still be content with that is a message we should all strive for in this world of "I love you. You don't love me? I hate you!" or letting age make a difference.

Your poem is an excellent tribute to unconditional love and admiration.

Bill, my man, thank you. I am glad you liked it!

Balladeer, thanks for the response! I agree, one can always still hope for a turnaround in the fourth quarter, when it comes to love.

Paul,

When I read your poetry I see pictures that you have illustrated with your words.  What more can I ask for?
