I was good at grand entrances.
You were good at grand exits.

I am at a loss for words to say,
so I sit and play my piano songs,
the wind blows cool and heavy
and I think of all my wrongs.

But I guess I'm far away
and you know I'm not coming back.
Really, it's quite okay
to gather your memories to pack.

I understand the pain you have
when I say I'll never cheat on him;
for one who loves like you,
I know it hurts to be a friend.

I will remember you fondly
and always play a song for you,
what a grand exit you made this time...
finally realizing we are through.

Well now, aren't you just a bit of heart breaker all the same.
Reminds me of Billy Joel's, "Innocent Man".

Excellent PS but I've come to expect that of you.

There is magic within these lines. Magic, but reality staring the reader down. Poetry. What is it if not a way to delve into yourself and work out things that all the booze and pills and smoke can't. Poetry.

I can't really relate, but it's always good to get a glimpse into another part of life. A perfectly-worded glimpse at that.
