Fair weather cumulous hang
in cerulean skies, like
flat bottomed sleighs gliding
along some invisible conduit.
Implicit, belying the roaring
north wind, whipping whitecaps
to smash mercilessly against
collapsing figuline cliffs. Homes
perched like roosting fowl
clinging stoically, staking their
claim to elevated existance,
resisting the steady erosion
of gardens, paths, bricks
and mortar,taken piecemeal,
like some delicacy, savoured
and salivated over, revisited
again, again, and again,
until nothing recognisable remains.
Their final resting place
a spume strewn beach,
broken, fractured, washed clean.
The Sea. She plays
her age old game
of winner takes all.

This is great naturegirl. Had to look up "figuline," and was I surprised to find out its meaning. Very explicit verses and descriptive passages. Enjoyed much.

A wonderful poem! It evolves almost like a Grrek play. I feel the tragedy from the beginning but enjoy the drama all the way through to the end. Great poetic style.

Absolutely great! It paints a realistic and vivid picture so real I can feel the wind and see the erosion unfolding. Very nice work!
