First grade was such fun.
Especially the day
we got to work
with modeling clay.
I was so excited,
I made a great looking dog.
and was just delighted.
Then the teacher came along
and asked me what I had made...
and I hesitated.
That was a mistake.
She pushed in the nose
of my creation
and said it looked like a frog.
I was much too shy to tell her
it was really a dog.
So I painted little fido
and sent him off to the kiln
and when he came back
I looked at him
and thought...
He didn't look like any frog
that I had ever seen
except for the fact
that my "dog" was green.

Yo dear Ida,

This is a cute one.

How did your dog become green.  Did you paint the dog green, or did the firing process in the kiln turn the clay green?

Love Bobby

Hi Bobby, I guess I was kind of like Bones as a child, eager to please. So when the teacher decided my dog was a frog I painted it green. I remember it so well that I must still be a little angry at myself for not standing up for my dog.

And that makes it me.

How delightful and profound in its revelation of your shyness, dear Ida. Truth is adults never see what children see. They should not judge, but humbly ask, that would be much better. It's a very strong childhood experience, from which no doubt you have learned.

Love,
Margherita

Ida,

You make me smile even when I feel my heart twist a bit.  Maybe your dog was a pug and that is why his nose was squished.  I think a green dog would be kind of cool.  Maybe you felt the need to please, but you had/have imagination.

hello Ida, it talks a lot about childhood and the way they build their mind by opposing their thoughts to the reality, this is a very accurate poem and colorful as a temptation of telling the truth of miserstandings....I loved it a lot.
