I remember ocean strands
A bucket full of silver sand
A windy beach where sea gulls swoop
The gentle sway of lazy sloop

I remember swaying trees
A hint of jasmine in the breeze
The smell of earth in April rain
The raindrops on a window pane

I remember summer skies
And pretty purple butterflies
Filtered sunbeams dancing round
The fallen leaves on forest ground

A Maple dressed in crimson red
Bright candles in a pumpkin head
The geese that fly beyond our reach
The smell of apples pear and peach

I remember crystal flakes
Deep snowy banks and frozen lakes
Icicles that clink and chime
The music of the winter time

A snowflake landing on my sleeve
The magic of a Christmas eve
The stillness of a summer pond
And stars we used to wish upon

And now I watch my life just flow
Through winter windows piled with snow
And childhood memories fill my eyes
With pretty purple butterflies

For I remember seasons change
The smell of earth in April rains
The little joys that life bestows
As surely as a garden grows

Like the purring coo of mourning dove
And comfort of a mother’s love

Yo dear Elizabeth,

This poem works very well for me.  This morning the Sea Gulls and Pigeons were fighting it out on the playground over some bird food one of my neighbor friends leaves for them every morning.

Love Bobby
