Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2010-01-27 02:38 AM

i hate nights like this
when i am cold
inside and out

when nothing satisfies
quite like ice cream
at last –
something colder than me

i forget for a moment
how unattractive i feel
and how cold i am
inside and out

I was feeling like that. (We are on our second week of pouring rain)so I went into the kitchen and made some almond, toffee candy. I just finished eating some and I feel much better.

Yep, Ida.  Thank God for mornings after nights like that.  Things look much better and brighter already.

This one seems much darker for you Alison.
But highly introspective, which I love to write, and to read in others.
Drowning in deep thoughts.

And ice cream.

Jerry,

I think we all get those cold inside and out nights sometimes.  A little ice cream and a new day chases that coldness right out of me.  Next time if I could have some of Ida's toffee - that might just work too.

Thanks for reading.

Well, Ali,
I’m gonna be sending you an inexhaustible fountain gushing pure hot chocolate when you are cold, and an inexhaustible fountain gushing pure chocolate ice-cream for when you are too warm so leave your computer on all through the night and remember to check your choco-mail sw that lets chocolate pass through the Internet from Colorado and keep the cats and dogs away from the continuous chocolate stream so they won’t get sick.
Cho xoxox collate? Mmmmmmm, good
:)

I hate nights like that too.

We all do.

Great write, not something folks would typically write about.

Feel better,

Paul

Yes, there are those nights, dear Alison, when that kind of deep melancholy creeps through the windows ...

But as you say, mornings represent new opportunities to do something about it.

Powerful self analysis, perfectly expressed.

Meet my hug and my smile in the morn:

Love,
Margherita

Alison - some nights are cold, inside and out, as you write... But perhaps tomorrow will bring the sun's warmth...

Yo dear Alison,

I'd capitalize your first person singular pronoun "I".  Everyone’s having it done.

I'm sure it's colder there than it is here.

haha what would we do without icecream?

I am that I am,
And that makes it me.
I float like a rock
But I sting like a bee.

it is most sad when such feelings (of cold ... inside and out)
become ones permanent state ... an eternal 'winter' of the spirit ...

[and tragically, some of us must forgo the ice cream as well!]

effective 'write'

I think we've all known such nights... you just put yours into words so wonderfully I feel the chill... and reach for the spoon. *S*

I'm glad the morning after was brighter! *S*

Wow - so many to thank.  I kind of did an emotional retreat after writing this poem.  Thank you all for reading it, caring and understanding.

We all have "just one of those nights" and mine are set aside for another time.  It's good to be back among each of you.

With love,
Alison
