"Nothing's changed" She said

I Thought of Claudius and of emperors
Who thought to change the world or simply right it
From the excesses of those who might in oratory
Inflame the masses to some fervor of belief
That all is glorious and glitters with the fine threads of
Silver or gold woven in linen to adorn the shoulders and
Should command or rule

Such lack

When without and within the subterfuge begins
With cruel and wanton threat to destroy that which,
Took lifetimes to build upon

"All things change" I replied softly
"Even Love"

"But my heart I know and to stone,"
"It comes slow"

The aftermath of Rome
From excesses and the mad man's dreams
Poor Claudius was thrown
Bereft of the wit or guile that some say
Caligula swore as light as did he other's lives

"we have a lifetime yet" she replied
And I smiled
Remembering Rome was not in a day constructed
Nor was it in an hour destroyed

And I yet breathed ….

Looking into her eyes,

knowing that indeed inside

of what we were

things changed

It's hard to admit things have changed, I suppose, especially if you didn't want them to.

Loved this...

Thanks for looking in Ma'am...
written some time back, but one I had found in another place and with the talk on another thread of "oldies" thought I would share it here...

Belle,
you know so much more about them than prhaps even I do..  ( chuckling)

I'll share a few, but as I told you, I am also trying to make myself write, so hopefully what is shared is new, and you won't have to wade through the familiar...

your thoughts and your words are always treasured...

thank you ma'am
