Remember the Pledge

July is here, with the fun of summer,
Holiday planning can be a drag,
But on the 4th we take time to honor,
“I pledge allegiance to the flag”,

“Of the United States of America”,
Parades, pretty floats and bands,
Fireworks and the Stars and Stripes,
“And, To the Republic for which it stands”,

“One nation under God, indivisible”,
With men and women who choose to serve,
There is something inside that drives them
Yet are rarely shown the honor they deserve,

Courage is one of the qualities,
Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines,
They promise to protect our country,
And the constitution from enemies’ unseen,

It’s a three-day holiday for most of us,
Independence day is quite a thrill,
Bar-B-Qs, picnics, and family,
“With liberty, and justice for all”.

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.

This would be an incredible poem any time of the year... but I can't think of a better way to honor our country's birthday than this wonderful reminder of the pledge and the men and women who serve so that we might live free. Beautiful work, my friend!

Thank you,  each and every one of you that read, and commented on my poem.  I think it is important to remember why we celebrate, So many have no clue.

May you all have an enjoyable, and patriotic Independence day celebration  (USA)
