Faith
is the quicksilver essence of lush,
heady blossoms crushed into atoms of twilight,

Faith
has drained me of belief,
poured through the soles of my feet,

Faith
shifts like dust,

as fragile,
this sorrow lingers like sleep
that won't leave the body,

betwixt the axis of memory
and image, faith is the paperbag
I breathe into when air is scarce,

the presence of holes has always seemd...inconsequential,

I've always taught myself to ignore misplaced light,

when I close my eyes, gumdrops taste like poppies,
and I am convinced, where I spit, a field will bloom,

red is a born-again color,
but in rain, paper fabrics bleed,
it's hard not to get discouraged,

on down days, my tongue turns to mud,
pungent as regret,

you don't know what it's like to go fallow,

and still this sorrow lingers
like sleep that won't ever leave the body,

a dory slips downstream,
bellwethering for the swans,
the river, all watercolor,

and hope is in the blackgrass, afraid to move.

ah~~~  now I'm not even sure why I bother to scribble ma'am....  I read your words and know why I try.... but also know the measure of my own....

blackgrass and hope....  quite the mix ma'am
