God, I want a hundred billion dollars,
Please grant this prayer for me
I want to purchase happiness,
For all of those in need.

I want to buy a school,
Where kids would have no fear,
Hire the greatest teachers and,
Start each class with prayer.

I want to buy some houses,
For the homeless on the street
Food for all the hungry,
Nourishment for the weak.

I want to make a different world,
We've ruined this one so bad,
Guess we've not appreciated,
Everything we've had.

People suffering and in despair,
The news is grim each day,
TV's all sex and violence,
Our morals are in decay.

So grant this wish for me dear God,
I'll use the money in your name,
(Well, I may buy myself a little Porsche),
But put "God" on the license plate.

Well, they say that we get what we need and not what we want.  Seems a bit of a shame to me.

Great poem Toe and I'm sure God will be
pleased to see his name on the number plate. I'm glad you only wanted a Porche.

Loved this Toe.

I sure wish we could purchase those kinds of things. What a wonderful world if we could.

Loved your thoughts in this (and the cute Toe ending, lol)

Best wishes,
/Kit

Yo Toe... Chances are, if you were granted the funds, it would cause mass inflation and eventually crash the economies of the world. No doubt, that would lead to plenty of praying. But as a result, I doubt you would be able to afford the gas for that porche you bought. All the same... I liked this piece and what it represents. Perhaps someday we'll straighten out our priorities and start using our smarts for something better than making the all-mighty dollar.
