Lido Beach

Lido is one of my favorite beaches
she is a beautiful lady shimmering in salt
gown flowing in blue green sequins as
she prisses upon the dance floored white sand
a place of vastness at calm and turmoil
a true southern princess updated daily
by the earth mother rolling her waves
and decorating her locks in sea life
Saturday I looked into her beautiful face
and heard the faint sound of angels crying
in the voices of gulls flying over my head
I like them worry if my children’s children
will ever get to meet and really know her
and the greatness of her secret beauty

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

Oh this is beautiful.. I really saw it, through your loving descriptions.. yes, let`s hope she remains as beautiful for the coming generations.. though she`s an oil  stain on her gown, for now.. =(
.
Gorgeous write, as always..
Love,~Amaryllis

So very timely with the devasting oil spill down south in the gulf.

Wonderful.

It reminded me of that exquisite picture of you standing in the surf that used to be in your home page.

I don't see it there anymore though

What beautiful things your children might not be able to see in nature Helen, they will always be able to see it, in you.

I`m always on the lookout for a standout line - this poem has one. `A true southern princess updated daily by the earth mother rolling her waves`

Hi Helen.
Ig's been so long since this land-locked soul has been to a beach, South Padre Island.  I kept a zip lock baggie with some shells and sand to help me remember but then lost it 3 years later.
Help me fantasize for now????????
Funs Jaime.
