Yesterday,

May 31st,

Two Thousand and Ten,

I watched a man

stumble across his lawn,

and make his way to the mailbox.

He either did not realize

that it was Memorial Day,

and that there would be no mail,

or he was celebrating Memorial Day

by losing

his memory

Oh Uriah, this is by turns funny and poignant; funny in the obvious image of the poor man stumbling to his mailbox, sad in the way he`d forgotten...such an important, important day..  and your final lines ring true, in that I am sure many vets wish they COULD celebrate by forgetting...  yes, there are so many facets to this poem. Written by a true poet.  =)
