Listen To Your Lonely

I know where you hurt
do you let it show
grey, in the spaces
between black and white
aching sound of weary wings
do you still hear my heart
treading in midair of settle
I once gave my heart away
quietly it rest melted in
the ridges of your finger tips
I am so lost without you
constantly walking backwards
to the map of my heart
shadows fell into the dust bleeding
it is such a weakness in me
I had accidently loved you
a terrified stranger
little pieces of perfect need
swans on the waves whisper secrets
of salt being tears without water
I have broken your faith
maybe I could explain
but I have held my words
unable to utter a sound
stubborn pride lies to me
I know where you are
gently touching dirt in the garden
picking out all the clinging weeds
you found me once
if you should ever want
find me,     again

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."
— Joni Mitchell

when I'm really sad
I'd prefer to live in the spaces inbetween
except that my swollen heart
usually won't fit.
Your violin-ic words have resonance, Slick Gal,

"little pieces of perfect need"

five simple words of poetry--and *ahem*--what a great name it would be for one "slick" anthology! I heart you.

sigh...

(sorry if I smell like beer) and um, the five o'clock shadow too.   ?

Love you!

I adore your poetry slick lady~  You are just so lovely.
This makes my breath catch, and yes, my heart ache.

A very beautiful and tender bouquet of emotions.

When you write, I read - and I hear such emotion.  So beautiful and so sad.

Oh so sensitive a write Helen.  I doubt that I would ever want someone to find me again though.  Just me. If they found fault with me once, I would not give them a second chance to make me feel less than I was.

..."find me,  again."

Wow! What a universal, human-kind, lament sighed by everyone at some time or another,
and done in just three words.

Wonderful to read you again, my friend...

as usual...

I only have simple words for this...

One of the more touching, sad, hopeful, and beautiful things I've read, in a long time.

Helen, you're basically just amazing, oh... and wonderful too.

But then I've been telling you that for years, in the whispered moments between the lines of your verse.

You are very special.
