"My Foundation"

Melancholy hovers thick around me
Sucking all the breath from out my lungs
Dampening the shining light that found me
Smothering the victory song I'd sung

Is this but another stormy trial?
And will I finally bend, or will I break?
How long until I drown in this denial?
How much more should I be forced to take?

But this is not the first storm I've endured
The others all have failed to break me down
And through them all I've lived, and I've matured
With you as my foundation, sure and sound

I loved this as it speaks to every person who has ever felt their load was too heavy, and made it through.  There was hope in this as well as sadness.
