"Et Tu, Brute?"(You too, Brutus?)

These words are said to have been Julius Caesar's last words after being assassinated via stabbing on the Ides of March by a group of Senators, including Marcus Brutus, someone he had considered a close friend.
**Today, this quotation is used to refer to an act of ultimate betrayal, usually from a trusted person.

You Too, Anthony?

I surrender.
I wave the white flag.
Hand me the dead flowers
and I'll hand you the knife.

I’ll watch like a detached spectator,
no crying, nothing.

So go ahead,
as I tell you that I trust you,
plunge the blade into my heart,
I insist.
Peel layer after layer of flesh
just before the bleed
then force it deep, gut me,
keep cutting me open wide
twist and turn, rip and shred
make sure the hurt is inhuman of the worst kind.

I'll smile to give you comfort
slip my tongue into the mouth of death
one final, cold kiss
goodbye.
And when I can no longer find the face
of the man I once knew
when you've left me so confused
I’ll be the splinter bend of your lies
knowing that I was just your experiment
that you never loved me at all.

*I realize this poem isn't one of my best
BUT I wrote it for catharsis and healing after a long-term relationship that ended*

The quality of "not my best" is still a superior blend of words. On behalf of my gender, sorry for the hurting. Peace.

Yes Honeybee, I can tell that this is definitely working out some issues of a relationship gone bad.
I am truly sorry for that.

I wish you well, and hopefully it is better now?

I truly can relate to this poem -- and I think the idea of carrying a big uzi is among the best that I have heard in a long time.
