There must be a reason,
Or is this the season?

Season of discontent,
What is the real intent?

Shadows of yesterday,
And to the moon we bray.

Why do I feel sorrow?
Will it last tomorrow?

Some are afraid of life,
They say there's too much strife.

But what else can there be,
And where is Heaven's key?

Professional mourners,
Who scrunch down in corners.

Waiting for the Golden Goose,
Using that old excuse.

Rise up from your slumber,
Look all around you, sir.

Destiny's up to you,
What are you gonna do?

A gathering of couplets which makes for a fine night of dancing. The gauntlet laid down in the last stanza is the challenge for me.

To break new ground while dancing box-step...

well done, Jerry. I loved this group of thought and the order of them led me to ponder on...

Ah, thought you'd be doing the Cajun two-step, Serenity, but that's okay, just so long as you're dancing.

You're up the the challenge, I'm betting.

Thank you for being here.

It's really too true. Your destiny is yours to choose but many people choose not to. I love your poem because it really points out a basic fact of life so well.
