I ran across a writing prompt that said: You are God, make a flower. Here is my effort . . .

From woman I take mysterious crevices
And build from within
I pluck from warm southern winds
Evolving spirits and calming influences
Molding clay comes next
Merging within the framework has begun
The deep crevices pulsate with expectation
I surround this embryo with clear mountain dew
To immortalize
To nurture its beauty
And satisfy its thirst
As it begins to bud and flower
I squeeze aroma from distant, foreign lands
A pleasing scent to bestow joy and smiles
A rod of thorns, sharp
Blood spiller if mishandled
I stand back
Observe my creation
Not quite satisfied
Handling carefully I cup in my hands
The burgundy and crimson hue
Of aurora borealis
Let it trickle from my palms
Onto the folds and crevices
A pleasing flush
Or maybe a blush
Ahh . . .
I stand back still not satisfied
And so I bend
And christen thee with a kiss
Bestowing upon thou a soul of your own
And baptize thee . . .
Rose

It's a lovely night for poetry. I like the way you've arranged your petals--rather like observing someone observing the sacred.

Lovely and charming.

Jerry

A rose made for a Rose.
Eloquently presented with the needed flaws put in place to bring it all back to the reality of can't live without.
You clever ol codger you!

You are right as you usually are, Eric, when you make the comment "can't live without." Thank you for your comment and insight.

The rose is one of the most beautiful flowers in existence, The_Doctors_Angel_32, I too value its charm and beauty.

Smiling you...
When summer comes, I shall take a photo
of this very rose, and send it to you...
the fragrance of it, is magical!

Well done, sir.

Yes indeed, there is nothing quite like the smell of a rose. I'll be looking for that photo. Thank you.

I'm into the archives, but I thought there would be a search engine there, but apparently not. So, I'm manually going through the sites for Quinella.

I really thought I had left a response here.  I must have lost my Internet connection in the process.

Jerry, you really know flowers, in particular roses – or you really know God – or you really know your readers – or some of the above - or all of the above!  Your poem recalls for me the image and the scent of the most beautiful and the most sweetest-smelling rose I have ever encountered – a Crimson Glory, which lives up to its name in every possible way.  My mother’s Crimson Glories were her favourite roses of all the many roses in her rose garden, and takes me back to my childhood, with a surprisingly good feeling.  Thank you.

I think I was just lucky when I wrote this poem, Owl, and my Muse was kicking ass and taking names. I particularly do like this poem myself, and thank you for your kind words. I am happy you were sent back to early, happy childhood times.
