SAD STRANGER
21 August 2005

Sad stranger,
tell me your volcanoes
and your tiny wild flowers,
sing me your secrets
in notes slow and sacred,
whisper your heart-thoughts
without fear of betrayal,
point out your pathways
rocky and sunlit.

Bestow on me that honour and dignity
and I will listen and feel
with my soul
and my mind
and my heart
and I will honour you in turn
by not offering thoughtless advice.
I will simply ask questions
of deep concern
that I hope will warm your heart,
open your mind,
strengthen your soul,
allay your fears
and point you forward

. . . to do the same
for the next sad stranger
for then you will discover
that the price of
the gift of light
is to give it.

When it’s all about others,
- from the heart and not as a slave -
then it’s all about you.

Diana

"the price of
the gift of light
is to give it."

Such a beautifully written truth.

To live in the pursuit of helping others is a worthwhile way to live your life. Nicely done.

simply superb! ...

seems to ever-increasingly be a world of very 'sad strangers' ...

I know that I am one of them wherever I wander ...
(particularly amid the "Runaway American Dream")

This is beautifully written and full of precious truths.

Thank you Spiros (I am sure, originally from my second-favourite country - Greece - after my own, but perhaps you are from Cyprus - I have never been there).  I am glad you liked it.

Thank you, Martie for seeing both beauty and truth in it.

Thank you, Jerry.  It is the first step to world peace.

Thank you, Bruce, I am glad you liked it so much.  Helping other sad strangers, can help the sad stranger that is oneself.

Thank you, Julie.  I am glad you found it so.
