my emotions link the long distance chasm
separating us
connecting us together emotionally
understanding the why of it
still . . .
longing sometimes grips my heart
as I stand on the periphery
of emotionless fact
fact rips apart the wonderful world
of us
so I stand, sometimes, gazing into the vastness
where you are
where I can never be
understanding and accepting is one thing
wanting and desire
quite another
so, days like today
I ache to bridge that void
holding out my arms
saying your name
kissing your lips
holding your body next to mine
eh, I know, I know,  I know
can't merge emotion and hard-core reality
can't, I understand
except on days like today
I stand alone
thoughts, craving spiraling inside my head
go through the motion
see people
walk that walk, talk that talk
stop, reach out my hand
across the chasm
and somehow
as I reach my hand toward the image of you
I feel something warm
touching my hand
cyberspace-touching my lovers hand
better than nothing

Certainly familiar with this feeling, indeed.

"eh, I know, I know,  I know
can't merge emotion and hard-core reality"   I liked that..

I hope I do send some shock waves, Lori. Thanks for the upbeat response.

Appreciate the comments Nicole, and I imagine most people can more or less relate.

"eh, I know, I know,  I know

I think one simply has to however we can in order to be human in the true sense of the word.  Not easy and as we try for balance reality seems to weigh more until we add transience into the equation.

The shortness of the equation, Helen seems to grow shorter each and every time we try to make some progress. Thank you, kind soul.

Positive note for a compelling read.
And that is much better than nothing.
Enjoyed the read, Jerry!
