Ruin

Standing, a shadow in her past,
I watch her walk away.
Knowing through pain her love will last;
I pray she will be okay.
Everything that’s precious to me –
Everything I adore,
With eyes that now see right through me,
Is walking out that door.

And I pray the Lord can heal her,
That I’ll not be the wound
That she can never make it past –
That leaves her to this world ruined.
In bittersweet parting from her,
That the Lord will give her strength…
That I might be forgotten fast,
And that she be freed at length.

That, for all my self-loathing,
She feels no part the blame.
That she don a brighter clothing,
No longer tinged with my name.
That with the faded memory,
She, one day, again will smile…
That, no longer tainted by me,
She finds life to be worthwhile.

That she’ll realize she in no way
Earned the hurts that I inflicted.
That maybe some far happier day,
She’ll find true love depicted
In the images she calls her life,
No longer affiliated
With this man who once called her wife –
The hell he precipitated.

That someone, somewhere, she will find,
That she can come to share
That amazing, brilliant mind
And all her inherent care
With, secure in her trust,
And love for a true friend.
Recollection of me but dust…
Scattered on a distant wind.

Michael Anderson

As, leaving some grand waterfall,
We, lingering, list its roar-
So memory will hallow all
We've known but know no more.

This is an excellent write, that settles within the heart and asks for compassion. It is difficult to imagine that a sensitive heart like yours did actually hurt her so much. I think it is not so much a question of forgetting, but more of forgiving. To forget a strong bond is almost impossible, but to accept what is, to forgive, in order to go ahead, that is possible. And God listens and He will handle the matter justly, as only He can.

Love and peace.

When a heart is breaking into pieces and its owner is thinking only of another, aching for their pain and wishing them nothing but happiness... that is love in its most pure and unselfish form.

A beautiful write I could read better if tears didn't blur the page. ((((HUGS))))

If she accepts gods love she will, and I am sure you too will.  It just takes time and a new flame (:

I must agree with suthern's reply.  I agree wholeheartedly.  And what Juju said too.  Love is the key, faith is the door opening, and peace is the validation.

As always Michael, excellent write.

James, thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed.

Margherita, truly spoken… God indeed will handle matters justly… accepting, forgiving, and moving forward are up to us in the end.  I am making my way there.

Ruth, I could stand to learn a few lessons on loving unselfishly me thinks.  Thank you for the kind words, even so.

Bernie, I’m glad it touched you.

Juju, accepting God’s love is the key me thinks.  The true flame lies there.

JL, I think I am coming into that peace.  Been a long road, but I can feel the torment easing up a bit.     Thank you.
