Oh, such a vehicle!
So smiley and wide,
a comfort that seemed
would last forever.

Struggles twisted the shining
and rust seemed so small at first,
take care of rust,
rub it out, rub it out,
sings the morning quietly.

Could we but matriculate into our years
then graduate with lively lust intact,
a house with a picket fence,
(almost paid for)
and travel to places
where destiny surely waits,
and will always wait.

But truly,
would it matter if you had your cup of tea
in the morning
and a beer at sunset?
The other side of youth just is
all of a sudden.
Like a coin flipped and riding circles,
it falls
and settles
and you can’t turn it over,
not with a sigh or a promise.

So lets feed this precious minute
pieces of our flesh
and look at the sky where stars wink,
conspirators in some grand design,
capture its essence,
pull out all the worth of it
and fill it up to tomorrow,
for there is no polish that will
rub out time.

Sadly you have taken the situation in hand and have given us much to read and think about. I think it boils down to this thought, grab life for all it is worth.

Every great poem likes to be polished,
Sissie...and you rubbed the shine on
this one just fine!

"So lets feed this precious minute...

rub out time(!)"

what a grand-fine expression of 'now-ism' !

VERY well 'penned' !

Once again you make my breath catch, you are such a grand and glorious poet, Martie.
Your message is lovely, and the way you express yourself moves me to tears.

Thanks for this beauty~

Yea! another Martie poem! Of course it was a treasure of words.  Loved where you went with this...every line a "polished" gem.

Hi Martie!
don't we all wish we could polish our rougher moments,
sanding time?

Wonderful writing, Martie-gal!
