* * *

My daughter, she goes through her books.
She donates, swaps or tries to sell
the texts for which she paid too well.

I caught her doing this tonight--
she sighed and told me, "yeah, awright..."
I entered her room's purpling
and stood there as she seem to sing

the titles as I voted nay
or yea, dependent on the gray
matter's definition's might:
"Criminalistics?" Y'got dat right.

Starting up my "keeper pile"
she read another title, smiled:
"'Contemporary Living'?" YES
I murmered I was not there yet,

so now my books were two.

"Guide to Good Food" she said yep!
"I don't think you are quite there quite yet!"
She made my pile a trinity
and muttered that she hoped I'd heed

the good advice within.

"Anatomy--you can't need this."
"Hole's Essentials?"
She pursed her lips.
"Impressive, Mom, I must admit."

My books (once hers) now numbered five.

"These last two are just workbooks."
"Gimmmmmeeeeeeeeee" said gollum, "They are mine."
"They're geared toward a fifth grader!"
"I'd like to think I know more than her--"

She dropped two workbooks on the pile.

"What am I to do with you?"
She smiled.I nodded 'yes' in drool:
"Bring to me...they are precioussssssssssssss...
A gollum for the words I blesssssss.

~thank you~

silvered on the floor.
I flipped my tail and shut the doors--
"My preciousssss gave me preciousness..."
"You're weird." She said.
"Me wantssssssssssssome more..."

*gasp*

(a-heck-heck-heck-sez-I)

smiling as I shelved my books.

I just Googled your title and I can see why
Human Anatomy and Physiology
went onto the pile.

You could have a sale, that thing costs 50 bucks to buy new....aw well, welcome to the future.

Loved all the little push and pulls in this.
Especially your exit and after thoughts.

Youse is super good girl!!

Okay, serenity, you have just taken me on a far-flung ride into a world I never knew. I knew you would as soon as I saw you had posted.

the ex sold my easyrider collection and tossed my hustlers..so I sprayed her classics closed with binding glue..she still uses them I suspect to stand on to reach for the cookies on the top shelf..not sure who won that round.

as usual your windows are fun to look through

I'm wondering if my fetish for textbooks qualifies as a textbook case of a fetish.

Thank you all for reading, 'cause that's how I plan on spending my evening.

My love and gratitude to you all.

You had me grinning, then giggling
all of the way through.

Did I tell you that while Louise was
with us, she often gifted books over reasons
of celebration, or simply, life,
then after she was gone, her sisters insisted
that I retrieve all of the books
pertaining to poetry and/or writing, and then,
to feel free to continue with picking and
choosing, so I captured up some of those books
I knew she had intended I would one day read,
simply because I still have eyes to do it with?

It wouldn't surprise you then, that she
filled, before and after, nearly one and
one-half full-sized bookcases?

I so enjoyed the gleeeeeeeeee in this!

Wow, this sounds like me. I don't like clutter and can get rid of things rather easily but I have a hard time getting rid of books. Hope you enjoy YOUR new books.

*grin*

I'm working on turning one outdated text into a practical work of art for my wall.

Basics of Anesthesia--

I'm thinking of gluing it shut, nailing some nails in it and making it into a convenient hammer holder.

(I've been meaning to do that for a few years, but I lost the hammer, and the book got lost in my "shuffle stack", and...)

um, I had to recover from anesthesia.

Thanks yet again.

Some people don't quite "get" my sense of humor, so I appreciate those who do.

One of my favs was always "Criminalistics;"  always saw it as hysterically funny.

I like the hammer idea also.

My daughter talked me into stopping on the way home to pick up a bottle of Jameson, so I am working with that now as an anesthetic.

I could be hammered well before the late night news.
