Over mist-capped mountains lies a piece of my heart-
for that which beats within me is not whole.
Along plains, across valleys, over vast seas
an explorer's fruitless attempts would folly,
for it is not to be found neither here nor there.
A wanderer, a pilgrim, nay, a vagabond am I,
no home nor place to fit securely.
When shall sweet rest occur again
or hope arise like childhood dreams?
Do I err in my want for more, or what was left behind?
Can I release that sentiment which drives my eyes to tears
or may I be right to say it's what I want that matters?
Oh, lead me on this path I take for I can no more see
what I saw in times of comfort past,
but aching plunge myself forward.
My trust in you has not wavered
my desire to be with you unmoved,
but consider how deeply I strive to want what you do.
Together we can thrive.
My only wish is that you may see me here,
unprejudiced, just loving me, fair-minded and forgiving.
Lead me home, to the place where we can rest together
if on this earth or the life to come, where ever it may be-
bring it quickly for I feel the pangs of this incessant waiting.

shelerellaSP,

Lovely and heart-touching.  Please stay among us. We cared for your father and we will embrace you as part of our "family".

It's ironic that I wrote this a couple years ago when my dad asked us to start giving him poems for a family collection of poems to publish... but I never shared it because I didn't want him to worry about my missing him and mom so badly.  I'll miss him forever now.

Thank you for your sweet comments of encouragement.  I believe I'll be around for a while if not only to peruse these pages for his amazing words, to make him proud by walking in his footsteps, fears aside.

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing.
It appears you may have inherited his gifts.

This would touch my heart even if I'd read it under other circumstances... you share your Dad's gift with words.

Welcome to Passions! I hope you'll find a home here just as he did. I am so sorry for your loss... my sympathies to you and your family.

Welcome Shelerella, I think you will find a home here among your father's friends and we are so lucky to have you here. I have no doubt that you will come to be as loved and admired as your father was (is).

When I saw your name the tears started, your beautiful poem made them flow all the more, but when I got to "to make him proud by walking in his footsteps, fears aside" in your reply, the floodgates opened.

Welcome to Pip, where you will find a wonderful band of friends.  I will look out for your poems.  I don't have much time to be online, but can't stay away from Pip.

You will find that Pipsters will honour and love you for yourself, but also you will be welcomed as our link to, and living reminder of your father.
