it was a year ago, a year ago
when you were lovely walking
the lady tree without forests

stepping between the shimmering
where metal sheen seemed to kneel
and then bend around your smile

you gave whispers to the beggars
that were king arthurs in thought
guarding their square table kingdom

and jousted them each with a glance
then left them without armor after
waiting for your shoulder to guide them

as you departed with backward glancing
