The clash of saber ratt'ling means
the joust's begun again
The armor has been donned once more
protection from the pen

Combatants mount their words as steeds
and pray they still be swift
that they bring laughter to the land,
accept our humble gift

A knowledge of the forms shall serve
as this our battleground
Ajudged commensurate with skill
let merriment abound

To be part of tradition set
those centuries ago
My good friend Balladeer and I
appears shall stage a show

Oh, glorious absurdity,
it's purpose to amuse
A comical endeavor which
means neither of us lose

What say thee Balladeer my friend
returned from Lilliput
if thee are truly "good to go"
do with this as thou wouldst

I love your jousts with Balladeer, doc... I hope they continue a good long while.  We ALL win with them.

So now the battle has begun.
You'll feel my trusty sword.
I rise up to the battle cry
Besides that, I've been bored.

My blade will kiss the whetting stone
Be sharp for Doctor Moose.
I only hope  I will not be
Charged with child abuse!!!

Michael.
Thank you kind sir. The "Balladeer" is more than a truly worthy opponent, from this point on, I must always be on my guard.
Doc

suthern,
Nay, lass, put thy purse away, the joust is open to all Pipdom free of charge ( and no Balladeer, that's not the same as a "Free for all).
Doc

Sunshine,
You can sit right up front too, something tells me "seating" may not be a problem, lol.
Doc

Spiros,
Welcome good sir, the festivities have already begun now that the opening ceremony is out of the way. I see my good friend Balladeer has arrived and already suggested I may be somewhat "immature" for such an undertaking. History alone shall be the judge of that. Enjoy.
Doc

While true my friend I may not be
like you as long of tooth
You too shall feel the rapiers' point
of wit, for be it sooth

While I've not racked up years as yet
that soon shall turn to dust
I've kept my armor in repair
not as yours left to rust

My word-steeds have been well cared for
they're chomping at the bit
enough of bluff and blustering
good Sir, get on with it!

The battle grounds have been well staged
the flying monkees are enraged
forget that desert camel-lot
it's time to show off what you got

Doc gives the tin-man such a brain
he'll never have to doubt again
that even he could persevere
against the one called "Balladeer"

The mighty "Doc" gives "Lion" heart
that he forgives those shoddy parts
of "Deers" insipid poetry
best stand back folks, it's messy, see,

and better yet, it's all for free
yep, step right up and you can see
this may be quite the jousting match,
a "Toast" to you Sir, down the hatch.

In the Emerald City's courtyard
Munchkins go about their day
A renaissance type festival
is planned and underway

Complete with field of battle
where two poets will compete
Step right this way dear Pipsters
we've still plenty of box seats

Bright banners wave as breezes waft
through emerald alleyways
A cloudless sky of vivid blue
accents the sun's bright rays

Which shimmer off the yellow bricks
in turn which shine like gold
as thousands fill the grandstands
to see how this will unfold

Atop the great reviewing stand
we've got the whole Oz gang
Including little Dorothy
who now speaks in urban slang

"This sure ain't Kansas, Toto, Yo
c'mon youse bums, let's start this show!"
This being said it would appear
we now await Sir Balladeer.
