You are the friend I'll keep sacred in mind.
Your life was a gift that will transcend all time.
The smiles that we shared cannot be erased.
You'll live on forever whenever I face
a mountain so high that I doubt my own strength,
the memory of you will make me stronger then.
If any shall doubt you or dare to condemn,
I'll have our memories on which to depend,
to summon the strength that it takes to forgive
those who would judge you the brief time you lived
most weren't as lucky as I know I've been;
they didn't know you--and you were my friend.

Your life was a gift--your death, sacrifice.
A reminder to all just how precious is life.

Some days will be sunny. Some days it will rain.
Some days will pass slowly and be filled with pain.
I'll think of you often with this promise fulfilled:
when I can't be strong, it's enough to be still.
I'll summon all angels to sing out the call,
to comfort your family as you embrace all
the promise of life everlasting you'll keep.
Heaven will welcome you. We mortals weep.

*****

I borrowed the voice of a special young man I know who is going through a particularly trying time as he suffered the loss of a friend. Sadly, I think the pain is known by most of us.

Wow, Karen... this is poignant, and beautiful.  This is what I was hoping to see when I dared to peak back in here.

I'm quite sure your special young man treasures this tribute and lament, Karen.

Very touching my dear Serenity, not your average form, which to me, makes it all the more poignant.

I'm so rusty I'm corroded, but I appreciate that you guys overlook the poor meter, the slant rhymes, and punctuation errors, and felt the honest emotion behind the inspiration.

Life is horribly wonderful thing...

And Doc? I wish I could write as elegantly as you, sir. Something in me behooves the "neat" rhyme.

Love to you all. Thanks for your time and understanding.

I want to thank everybody yet again. I posted this so I could send my friend a card. She appreciated it. Thank you Ron, for giving me a safe place to keep my memories.

Ciao everybody.

I listened to the song while reading your deeply poignant words and they really tugged at my heartstrings.

Precious!

Darling girl,

I can't say what is in my heart,
because you  would not want to hear it,
because this poem is not about you
even when it is.

You are all everyone would ever need
in a friend, and then you invite others in.

Love, K

One can feel the love and deep emotion you've poured into this poem.

Your sentiments are heartfelt and truly lovely, and they suit your pen name beautifully.

Reads like a prayer, Serenity~

When you rhyme, you take mere words onto another plane and I can only bow my  head at their beauty.

This is a powerful, poignant tribute, K...
