Cerebral overload.
Emotive wordplay.
I compose
Heartfelt views.
Descriptions vivid.
Bizarre emotion.
I write,
expect to be understood.
This is madness.
to hope for miracles.
Still, I pen,
all those leafs of paper.
It is all a matter
of . . . you pat me on the back,
I'll do you.
Analytical encumbered.
Intellectually second-rate.
Poet without verse,
simply doodling.
Delusional, desperate,
unfilled lines,
meaningless prose.
Difficult to get to raison d'ĂȘtre.
Imagined ideas.
Ground-swell of feelings.
Leaking from my brain,
these wonderful thoughts,
writing them as to be indecipherable.
A ravenous need.
To be understood,
failing.
When that happens
paranoia
sinks his gory teeth
into this writer's psyche,
tormenting, hovering
literary death.
For there is a season
for collapse.

Now I could have written this...

quote:
I write,
expect to be understood.
This is madness.

Good stuff, Jerry

Aha, but I didn't, and you did...what I was trying to get across was that those three lines so often fit me when some particular people say, "I don't understand this..." or "what made you write that?"

You vented for me...and I appreciate it!

No, you are not simply "doodling", you write beautiful significant poetry, dear Jerry. But I think we really can't expect to be always understood or appreciated by all. Of course it is nice when there are people who are on the same wavelength and enjoy what we write and "feel" it.

So, we write our hearts and send out a message, which usually never fails to touch someone, even if not always in the way we might imagine.

Write on, Poet, and don't collapse, you are a unique voice in this vast poetic Universe.

Love,
Margherita

Appreciate the nice words, Margherita, and I don't think I'll collapse. I've been in too many wars to take the easy way out. Thank you again . . .

Captured that bit of not so warm and fuzzy all too well my friend. I could uncomfortably relate.  Thanks for being the one that says the stuff the rest of us would rather not.

Hello, Lori, thank you for your comments. It's all in the inner you/us/we/them who desperately want to be heard and will write our feeling hoping it will connect sometimes. We even prostitute ourselves from time to time. Thanks again.

much agreed, though for me writing and art is the only way I can express my self.  It is weird.

I totally and completely understand, Juju, we are all in it for the reason that we can express ourselves. Thank you for reading my poem and your comments.
