Childhood Suite I

Somewhere hidden in the jet stream night
are the childhood dreams I left swinging on wires
out there, beyond that cozy little light
fragile heartbreak glass slash all my tires
feel myself sinking 'neath waves of imagination
swirling with dinosaurs, comic books and sweet temptation
skidding out on my bike
pop bottle rockets light up the night
gift on insight
I try not to fight

Something in the way of my dreaming
wade through mists of nineteen-eighty something
inside there is a low hum I'm singing
all grown up and with a hand full of nothing
Saturday morning cartoons, take back the time
all beauty and color imbue my heart back to feelin' fine
a broken-down carousel
I'm set to fly upon a full force gale
follow jet trails
beyond the soft and pale...

Horizon
stretching out like a canvas colored red
boyhood dreams I left under my bed
way back when
way back when
if I could flash back to then
I would, for the time today can't hold a firecracker to
sweet yesterday
and the true home I hope for always
perhaps it's back there, in my childhood days
soft sunrays,
running through sprinklers without a shirt
you trip, you fall, you don't get hurt
it all gets better before it gets worse

Someone I left back there in misty time
can't tell the way back to feelings so true, so fine
out here, these footprints of my innocence
bring me back to beautiful, meaningful dreaming
I feel myself in love with all these photographs and memories
oh if only they can talk
these houses on my old block
a key in the lock
unveil to me in sidewalk chalk...

Everything I know, everything I love
these hopes and dreams will never ever be enough
to compare to the fulfillment of heart
way back when, the soft graceful arc
or just a clumsy trip when boy meets world
lost in a swirl
and more than ready to dream.

"If dreams are like movies, then memories are films about ghosts"

Oh you are good, this moved me in so many ways.
I think the "sunrays" say so much, like spanning our dreams and our memories,
and the deep desire to share ones heart and to feel the unconditional warmth of loving.

I really love this soul drifter, more than I can express.

Nice...reminds me of the days when I had a closet full of comicbooks and my friends would come over and trade...James
