The hate I kept inside;
Made me speak harshly and she did cry.
The hate I kept for him;
Caused hurtful things said on a whim.

I promoted my hate;
Until I barely held its weight.
Oh, it pleased me to hurt;
And otherwise feelings subvert.

Hate grew so big and strong;
No one could tell me it was wrong.
I used it like a knife;
And I was living half a life.

Somewhere along the way;
All went away, no longer prey.
The tombstone of my years;
Wish those I had wounded were near.

Yes it is, Lori, but I turned out to be one of those rebels (who thought I had a) cause. Lasted a while.

Appreciate it, Faith. Sometimes when you admit some not so nice truths it had a habit of hurting, which it should. Thanks for being here.

Powerful, dear Jerry! Some lessons are never ever learned. I am so happy for you being able to be aware of what hate caused and wishing you could mend.

Very touching and well written!

The key to inner peace lies in forgiving oneself for how we may have hurt others. Then we can let go and start again.
If there is the opportunity to get in touch with those we have hurt, we may apologize. That is a humbling experience but it is worth the attempt.

I think, dear Jerry, that no one can honestly say to have never ever hurt others ... we may do it unconsciously, but by analyzing our behaviour we might be surprised by what surfaces. Maybe I need a meditation ...

Love,
Margherita

You are so right, Margherita . I will meet my son next Thursday. I haven't seen him in forty-one years. So, yes, I will be able to apologize. But after all this time it seems so trite, this apology. Yes! I am sorry NOW that I am an old man. I am very grateful he has gotten in touch with me and wants to "have a drink" with me. Should be an interested drink. I'm scared to death.

Now you really move me to tears with this soon-to-be encounter, dear Jerry. I understand your feelings, but this is the time to trust yourself and also your heavenly assistants who will stay close and make the meeting a success for both you and your son. It will seem difficult to find the right words for both, but a loooooooooong hug will also help melt the ice. You are in my heartprayers. It will not be "interested", for that he could have used other means I think. He wants to look into your eyes and find that certain something he has missed all throughout these years.
Love,
Margherita

Yes, Margherita, I know you are right. Thank you for your prayers. I'm so excited, but at the same time there is much fear in my heart. What do I say? Well, the truth, of course. I wrote my memoir and he and his sister has read it, so Nick knows that much. Using the "interested" word was the wrong one. You are right.
