WHERE DID THEY COME FROM?
28 May 2011

I woke
with a single tear
trickling full down
each cheek.

I semi-remembered
my dream
for a moment
and knew
it didn’t
warrant tears.

I wonder
where they came from . . .

I don't know where they came from, but the fact that they were there meant you were quite passionate about something. Sometimes it is just relief that causes the tears to flow.

Thank you, Jerry.  Yes, I suppose you are right, on both counts.

A couple of days ago, at the age of ±65½, I think I, at last, discovered my secret to my incomprehensibly good health.  I think it is that I allow myself to cry (well, not in public though, if I can help it - except here in the friendly environment of Pip).

As a young child, I think I hardly ever cried, but from at least my early teenage years, I kept my tears for at night in bed, as long as I knew my mother was asleep and then I would cry into my pillow so that she wouldn't hear from her room, if she was, contrary to what I had tried to establish, still awake.

Now, I don't have to keep them to night-time - just until I get home.  I don't mind Benji and Cleo seeing my tears, as long as it doesn't upset their doggy and kitty hearts.

I woke up in tears a few times myself and didn't know why either, Diana. I try to keep the tears at home too. Best not to let them run amuck, I guess.

It's strange, isn't it, Ida?.  Perhaps, in my case, it may have been my second-last dream.

I have woken up with tears in my eyes on several occasions over the years, but to the best of my recollection, this is the first time that I have woken up with 2 tears actually running down my face.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Ida.

Two tears? Two pearls! The heart knows.

Delicate questioning, dear Owl.
