Zanzibar Lane

The longest dirt road
Pot holes throw my car about
Behind me, dust pillows in the crisp air
An emerald ocean creased wrinkles of sun light
I hear birds harmonize in the wind
Everything is changed now
Even me.

This almost reads like a translation . . .
Are we exploring another way?

As always, you know I love your poems

John,

I am attempting to incorporate more nature in my poems, and less me. As for the translation part, there was a old dirt road I grew up near called Zanzibar lane.  This poem actually has taken me 2-3 years to write (I don't know why normally takes me a day), so maybe that is what you see is my internal struggle to say what I feel.

Good for you, and hopefully the air will stay crisp, the ocean emerald and the sunlight bright and lovely. It's your world, go for it.

A pleasure to read...the dirt road part reminds me of when I lived in Georgia...James

An exquisite metaphor, Juju.  A perfect gem - a cameo - a masterpiece - worthy of taking 2-3 years to write.  I bathed in its beauty - the nature part and the you part and the seamless blending of the two.

Very captivating, as it transports the reader into its "live" event to become fully part of it.
